River Cruises
Voyage Reimagined
River cruising is one of the most memorable ways to experience Europe — and one of my true passions. Unlike ocean cruising, river ships are intimate by design. You wake up each morning in a different city, steps from the heart of it, with no crowds, no stress.
From the Rhine winding through Germany and Switzerland, to the Danube threading through Eastern Europe, to the Seine right through the heart of Paris — every waterway tells its own story.
I specialize in two of the finest river cruise lines in the world: AmaWaterways and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises. Each offers something distinct — AmaWaterways for its exceptional itineraries and active excursions, Uniworld for its boutique, design-forward ships where no two vessels are alike. I'll help you choose the right line, the right ship, and the right itinerary for wherever you want to sail.
Whether you're new to river cruising or a seasoned traveler looking for your next sailing, I'll match you with the right itinerary, the right cabin, and the right time of year.
European Rivers
The Seine
Imagine waking up in Paris, the Eiffel Tower still catching the morning light, then gliding west through Normandy's rolling countryside to the dramatic white cliffs of Étretat. Visit Monet's legendary garden at Giverny, pay your respects at Van Gogh's resting place in Auvers-sur-Oise, and end with a solemn, unforgettable visit to the D-Day landing beaches and American cemeteries of Normandy. The Seine is France at its most intimate — history, art, and landscape woven together at every bend.
The Danube
The Danube begins in the charming cobblestone streets of Passau, where three rivers meet beneath a baroque skyline. From there, the journey unfolds through some of Central Europe's most magnificent cities — the imperial grandeur of Vienna, where you might catch the legendary Lipizzan stallions performing at the Spanish Riding School or the ethereal voices of the Vienna Boys Choir, the compact elegance of Bratislava, and finally Budapest, where the ornate Parliament building glows gold against the river at night. The Danube is also home to the AmaMagna — AmaWaterways' magnificent flagship, nearly twice the width of a standard river ship. Because of its size it sails exclusively on the Danube, where the wider locks can accommodate her. For travelers who want the ultimate river cruise experience, this is it.
The Rhine & Moselle
Castle-topped hills, vineyard villages, and the magic of the Christmas markets define the Rhine. The Moselle winds alongside it through steep slate slopes, ancient Roman ruins, and Luxembourg's charming capital. Wander the medieval streets of Strasbourg, drift into Amsterdam's storied canals, and discover a corner of Europe steeped in history at every bend.
The Duoro
Portugal's Douro Valley is one of Europe's best-kept secrets — and one of its fastest-selling itineraries. Terraced vineyards drop steeply to a glittering river, ancient quintas produce the world's finest port, and the pace is unhurried in a way that feels increasingly rare. Sail through a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, stop in the elegant city of Porto, visit working wine estates for private tastings, and discover villages where time seems to have stood still. Book early — Douro sailings fill quickly and for good reason.
The Saône & Rhône
From the gastronomic capital of Lyon, the Saône winds through the celebrated vineyards of Burgundy before meeting the Rhône, which carries you south through Provence to sun-drenched Avignon. This is southern France at its most seductive — fine wine, ancient Roman ruins, lavender fields, and villages that feel untouched by time.
Dutch Waterways & Belgium
A different pace entirely — windmills, tulip fields, chocolate shops, and some of the world's great art museums. Cruise through Amsterdam, Bruges, Ghent, and Antwerp, where every canal tells a story and every stop feels like stepping into a painting.
Beyond Europe, both AmaWaterways and Uniworld sail rivers — and waters — that stir something deeper: the Nile in Egypt, the Chobe in Botswana, the Mekong through Vietnam and Cambodia, the Amazon in Peru, the sacred Ganges in India, even the remote islands of Indonesia. If something exotic calls to you, let's talk.
